Meet the management team
With an increasingly global client base we need to remain as responsive as ever. To achieve this, we have a team based in the UK and a team in New Zealand, who take care of our customers in the Asia Pacific region.
As well as our own growing team, over the years we have developed a strong and reliable network of partners who we call upon from time to time for their specialisation and expertise in a specific subject area. This also means that we can upscale our resource at short notice – as and when projects require it.
Our team is passionate about learning and making the learning experience enjoyable and rewarding; our team have delivered hundreds of training courses over the years and are supported by an experienced, motivated management team. Please carry on reading to meet the team.

Andy Edwards - CEO and Head of Technical training
As founder of CommsLearning, Andy started the company in October 2002 and took up the role of CEO and MD for the UK. Now based in the Asia Pacific Region, Andy is the CEO and Head of Technical Delivery; a role that his 27 years of telecommunications experience qualifies him well for. A passion for developing people and a drive to constantly improve helps Andy keep CommsLearning at the forefront of the telecommunications education and consulting industry.
Andy began work as an apprentice with British Telecom, then after qualifications and promotions he decided to see the World. After 15 months travelling around India, Nepal, SE Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the USA he returned to the UK and worked with the American based “General DataComm” where he first took to the classroom as a trainer. He then went on to join TTC/Acterna (now JDSU), where he grew the EMEA training operation in 5 countries before finally setting up CommsLearning. After 3 years running the UK, Andy decided finally to settle in New Zealand where he has now been for 5 years.
Andy is based near Auckland, in the beautiful countryside where it is easy to pursue his hobbies of motorcycling, cycling, hiking, travel, keeping fit (all necessary because of his love of good food and wine!) and walking his 4 dogs.

James Penny - Sales and Marketing Director
"James joined CommsLearning in 2009 as Sales and Marketing Director, responsible for creating business opportunities and developing relationships with new and existing customers. Having worked in the communications industry for over 25 years, James brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the management team and is at the forefront of the development of new innovative services designed to bring greater benefit to our customers.
James’ career started as a clerk in a contact lens insurance company – but after deciding the world of insurance was not for him, joined Ericsson Telecommunications and started a long career in sales, sales management and consultancy which included the ongoing training and development of his teams. After Ericsson, James worked for Orange and then Vodafone, gaining knowledge and experience in digital media, web based services and platforms.
