Vodafone UK – Processing & Process Training

Overview
The supply chain management team of Vodafone UK manage and control the purchasing of millions of items, valued at millions of pounds. From pens and staples to global IT systems and network infrastructure, the team in the UK is a part of a global operation operating from several hubs located around the world, all connected to a central IT infrastructure.
The Need
The brief for the assignment sounded simple enough. Educate the global supply chain team on the benefits of the new IT platform; demonstrate how certain features and facilities could be used to make the process more efficient, cost effective and quicker. Finally make that process engaging, relevant and stimulating.
We are used to following a clients brief and we try very hard to make sure we exceed it in every way possible. However we recognised at the beginning this would be a challenge to our creativity and instructional design skills based on the subject matter. Turning a functional process which involves considerable data input, form filling and jargon into an engaging, relevant and stimulating piece of learning was a challenge we relished.
Solution
Working in collaboration with the Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) we built an interactive E-Learning module incorporating music, video, learner interactions, professional voice over and knowledge checks to guide the learner through the complex and difficult processes required to fulfil the requirements.
Using screen shots of the application itself we encouraged the learner to complete the stages of the process themselves, providing support and guidance at every step of the way. We created a series of animations with powerful background music to stimulate the learning experience and used knowledge checks at regular intervals to test the leaning and reward positive participation.
Together with the SME, we focussed only on the relevant content, stripping away non essential information and ensuring that we only included content that was necessary to meet the brief. Using our project management change control process we kept the project moving and within manageable boundaries allowing us to deliver the completed module within the customers’ expectations.
Benefits
Following the introduction of the E-Learning module, all the supply chain team went through the training programme and were assessed using the knowledge checks within the module. All the learners completed the assessment with the overwhelming majority passing at the first attempt, the new process was successfully implemented and all the business objectives including cost efficiencies, speed to process and quality were achieved.

Learn about webinars
We view webinars as complementing instructor-led training and E-Learning, or bridging a gap between the different delivery methods.
