IT & Telecommunications Essentials

Situation:

With Vodafone’s voice and data products becoming more complicated and branching from straight mobile solutions to more complex converged IT solutions, there was a need to up-skill the Corporate and SME sales people with a basic understanding of IT networking, fixed and mobile network technology and ICT applications including how they relate to the products and solutions that Vodafone offers.

Solution:

CommsLearning designed a 3 day course for Vodafone, based on providing the sales people with the knowledge to give an understanding, in simple terms, of the functions of different fixed and mobile, data and voice technologies and equipment that could be used by customers in their own network and in their own infrastructures so that attendees can hold a credible discussion with a customer, IT or Telecom’s Manager about ICT services and solutions and relevant technologies. The course included topics such as Internetworking (LAN’s/WAN’s), the OSI Model, IP, Fixed voice communications (PSTN, ISDN, PABX’s) and Mobile communications (GSM, GPRS, WCDMA, HSPA).

This course allowed the attendees to gain a solid understanding of the IT & Telecommunications market and technologies, providing attendees with an understanding of what the technologies are and what they do, making day to day business that much easier to understand. This resulted in benefits such as fewer customer meetings per sale, Increased ARPU, less requirement for support from “Pre Sales” experts and increased job satisfaction from sales teams now identifying more complex opportunities.
